The awards were set up in the memory of Stuart Hocknell, a talented young designer at Brahm, who died from meningitis in 2002. Now in its 7th year, Sh! has helped dozens of students polish their talents and raised thousands of pounds for the Meningitis Research Foundation.
Sh! is for Stuart Hocknell, a brilliant young designer and a much missed member of the Brahm team who died from meningitis in 2002. Stuart loved life, adored design, and his enthusiasm for both touched all those around him. Brahm is certainly a duller place without him. He was also an energetic champion of young designers and a passionate believer in promoting links between colleges and agencies in the region.
The Sh! Awards were founded in Stuart's name. And each year through the awards, we help to uncover exceptional student talent and raise thousands of pounds for the Meningitis Research Foundation. A very fitting tribute we think, to a very special person.
All money raised by Sh! goes straight to the Meningitis Research Foundation, the national charity dedicated to fighting death and disability arising from meningitis and septicaemia. The charity funds research into the prevention of these diseases and to improve survival rates and outcomes. Their work also includes raising awareness among health professionals and the general public.
Since it began in 1989, the Foundation has invested over £14.8 million on 122 research projects, and has distributed millions of pieces of life saving awareness literature. If you would like to make a contribution to the Meningitis Research Foundation or would like to know more about their work and how to get involved please call 01454 280412 or visit www.meningitis.org
