TransPennine Express

The Brief

To provide PR support for the launch of First Group’s new northern rail franchise, TransPennine Express.

To act as the Press Office for TransPennine Express (TPE) for an initial three months.

Our Response

Brahm handled all media announcements regarding the launch of TPE, both nationally and regionally. Photo-calls were arranged in both York and Manchester, along with broadcast interviews with key TPE executives.

Transport journalists were made aware of the dedicated Press Office number at Brahm, which was manned 24 hours a day. A crisis response process was developed.

The Results

All key national and regional media covered the launch of TransPennine Express, and the Press Office handled more than 300 calls in the first three weeks. In the first month, more than 120 pieces of coverage were generated, with an equivalent advertising value of £285,000.

Due to its success, the three-month project was extended to nine months.
