Somebody, Somewhere
New work by Nick Pollen
January 17th - February 18th 2005

Nick Pollen describes his work as an exploration of memory construction and the uncertainties connected with this active/adaptive process.

In this new work, Somebody, Somewhere, he illustrates this subject matter by employing a narrative which documents a journey back to a site of childhood memories in Leeds. The different fragments of this series have been chosen for their personal significance to the artist and for the associations that are generated between them. Pollen insists that the collection should allow for the viewer to make alternative associations.

Whilst paintings allude to documentary and family photographs, prints make reference to how the work was made; here is both an insight into the artist’s methods of progress in his practice and personal history, and a means for us to self-reflect.
