Lee Johnson
'Exchange reaction interaction action'
April 4th - April 30th 2002

In-between spaces, places on the periphery of our vision, are often passed through without registering. Generally bleak and uncompromising they are hard to comprehend, as we have no definition of them other than that, due to the fluctuation of the market, they remain underdeveloped. They are merely zones that separate one destination from another.

But to have an area devoted to nothing, serving no function, is perceived as uneconomical and a waste of space. Few authentic natural (i.e. not interfered with) spaces remain and, once the reference point for the natural disappears, all territory is reduced to the status of a garden. Landscape becomes landscaping.
