Kelly Cumberland
'Geneomic'
February 8th - March 6th 2001

'My interests lie with the subjects of boundaries and barriers with respect to science and art, art and medicine, life and death; including the physical, mental, social and cultural categories relating to the body. Not only are boundaries and structures necessary to produce, they can also condition the possibility of 'troubling' and 'challenging' in order to produce something different and new.'

'Specifically, I aim to explore the body with regard to its vulnerability. On one hand we regard both 'preventative' and 'curative medicine' as the remedy and the comforter; on the other, we are often aware of a medical as well as a scientific intrusion or invasion of the body affecting both interior and exterior.'
