Current Exhibition

Felix Cupla by Jamie Williams

7th Augustl – 24th September

A personal interpretation of a literary epic.

BRAHM Gallery has the pleasure of hosting the first Solo exhibition of artist Jamie Williams. His most recent body of work responds to, and interprets the classic poem ‘Paradise Lost’ by John Milton. Rather than simply illustrating or producing a
modern re-telling of the poem, Williams ‘scratches’ with pen and ink his own take on key themes of the poem; loss, growth, maturity and personal conflict.

I create images that convey a sense that there are aspects of human experience and growth that have been, are and will remain unaltered. Despite social, political and technological change, we all still have to deal with issues of the self as have generations before us” Jamie Williams 2008

A recent graduate of Huddersfield University, Williams’ work has an ‘on the verge of fracture’ quality yet lines of ink are made with absolute precision creating a solid, almost 3 dimensional permanence.
