Opera North

Client Challenge:

Opera North has become increasingly varied and innovative in its approach. The corporate identity had been used for a number of years and Opera North were looking for something to reflect both the traditional and new, innovative nature of its work. Brahm were asked to rebrand Opera North starting with their logo.

Our Solution:

The team at Brahm Design commissioned a calligrapher to 'musically' illustrate the word 'Opera'. Each letter was to express something different. The calligrapher was asked to capture the passion and the spirit of opera. By contrast, 'North' was written in straight, robust characters to convey northern grit. Brahm has designed brochures, posters, advertising and programmes using the ideas expressed by the new logo, together with a stunning range of images to illustrate each individual production. Opera North has achieved its goal of reaching out to new, more diverse audiences and has succeeded in modernising its image.
